WTC final: Shubman Gill arrived late for net practice at The Oval, the magic of the bat could not work

  • by

The Indian national cricket team was spotted practicing at the Oval ahead of the ICC World Test Championship, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing. After fielding drills, the team headed to the dressing room where they joked around and laughed with each other. However, during batting practice, opener Shubman Gill struggled to handle the bouncier deliveries.

This was the team’s first practice session at the Oval, and it seemed like they were having a good time. From Virat Kohli to Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, and Shardul Thakur, everyone was in a jovial mood. They started with running, drilling, and catching exercises.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Kohli were seen enjoying ice creams during the practice session. When Kohli needed something, he turned to Pujara and said, “You’re in England, you know how to get things done.” Pujara has been in England for several months, captaining the Sussex County team.

After fielding practice, Gill and Kohli went to the dressing room, and Kohli told Gill that he needs to stop the ball when it’s coming at 110 km/h, just like Khalil Ahmed does. Later, coach Rahul Dravid asked where Gill was, and the manager said he would be there in two minutes. When Gill arrived five minutes later, he had to wait as Rohit and Kohli were already batting at separate nets.

Gill struggled to find his rhythm during the batting practice, and it was evident that he was having problems with the bouncier deliveries. The team will need to work on their technique and adjust to the conditions if they want to perform well in the World Test Championship.

The Indian cricket team is known for its strong batting lineup, but they will need to be at their best to compete with the likes of England, Australia, and New Zealand in the upcoming tournament. With the World Test Championship being the ultimate prize in Test cricket, the Indian team will need to put in their best effort to bring home the trophy.

The Indian cricket team’s practice session at the Oval was a mixed bag. While there were moments of laughter and camaraderie, there were also moments of struggle and frustration. The team will need to work on their weaknesses and focus on their strengths if they want to emerge victorious in the World Test Championship.
